Blitz Further Strengthens Internal MiddlewareBlitz Further Strengthens Internal MiddlewareLeading independent developer Blitz Games has today revealed that the first title to use its new FUSE engine has just been mastered and that the companys cutting edge in-house technology has now been successfully rolled out to all projects in development, complete with a newly enhanced feature set July 30, 2004 -- Developed exclusively by the Companys internal Core Technology Team, FUSE provides a powerful custom-built integration between Blitzs industry-leading FLARE content creation tool and their long established BABEL cross-platform runtime technology (which includes functionality for all current platforms as well as PSP and next gen consoles). The upcoming Fairly OddParents 2: Shadow Showdown game from THQ (sequel to last years award-winning Fairly OddParents title) is now mastered and approved on all platforms and is the first title at Blitz to be developed entirely using FUSE. A further five titles (covering at least 10 SKUs) are already well into development and making full use of the companys impressive toolset.
Recent enhancements to the feature set include a live network link between the editor and the engine that allows real-time manipulation and updating of game objects and debug information without the need for restart. Other new features include the provision of an interactive graphical editing environment for HLSL materials, allowing artists to experiment with multi-pass vertex and pixel shader based materials without requiring programmer intervention.
