1. Blackjack: A Winners Handbook
by Jerry L. Patterson, Eric Nielsen
Blackjack A Winners Handbook is without a doubt, the most comprehensive book on the shelves today. Yes, it is true that, Jerry has a Blackjack course to sell, along with his book. I bought that course 6 years ago, and have "never" had a year since that did not make me a "very good profit". I do keep records which is part of the course.
It is not based on superstition, or useless types of progression, regression betting. It is based on "sound research" done by Jerry, his students, and, instructors over his vast years of experience.
He teaches you to find a winning table before you even sit down, and then guides you through the steps on how to read the type of game it is, as well as money management, in taking a profit from the table whether, it be small, or large.
He has taught thousands of people to be a better player, and most, unless deceased, continue as students, and friends to this very honorable writer and gentleman. Yes, I am biased, and now for the past 4 years an instructor for him but with good reason. He made me and countless others all winners.
By the way, none of us, as instructors, receive any pay for the help we give, his students. It is done because it works, and we believe in it.

2. Blackjack Bluebook II: the simplest winning strategies ever
by Fred Renzey
It took 30 years, but somebody has finally taken all the hi-tech blackjack strategy that you need to actually beat the game and reduced it into clear layman's terms. This book turns basic strategy into an art form with 7 hands that should be played "against the book" if the right cards are on the board. It also touches on a provocative angle that I've never seen dealt with before, "Hand Interaction" (completing other players' doubles for less, taking part of their advantageous splits, pawning off one of your own disadvantaged split cards, etc.)
The author, an obviously accomplished card counter presents some laughingly simple ways for a basic strategy player to identify a shoe that has become heavy in Tens and Aces, and then shows exactly how to bet and play that shoe through to the end.
The book is littered throughout with graphic card hand illustrations which really drive home its salient points. It also contains the new unbalanced KISS Count which makes basic card counting about as easy as it can get. Later in the book, the reader is shown how to refine the basic Kiss Count into a full scale performer.
The chapter on advanced skills and techniques contains useful gems, particularly a list of 15 "camouflage" plays that a journeyman counter can use to hide his proficiency. I wish this book was around 15 years ago when I was struggling with all the more tedious handbooks on advantage play. This one's a real smooth read, and provides some new insights besides.

3. Blackjack For Blood: The Card-Counters' Bible, and Complete Winning Guide
by Bryce Carlson (Paperback - July 2000)
This book has it all. It's mathematically accurate, highly informative, up-to-date, and beautifully written. In addition, Carlson's anecdotes of high-roller life in the casino fast lane make for a really fun, entertaining read. Carlson is both a mathematician and a successful high-stakes Blackjack player, and he presents the concepts behind card counting in an easy-to-understand way that is accurate, informative, and practical. This book is just chalk full of priceless information. It presents the theory of card counting, basic strategy, game selection, camouflage, casino comportment, special "commando" tactics, money management, risk of ruin, etc., etc., as well as Carlson's own Advanced Omega II System, which all the experts agree is the strongest BJ system going. AOII is a level-2 card-counting system that I've found easy to learn and easy to use. And it works! It really gets the money. K-O and Hi-Lo don't come close. This book is the bomb! If you could only have one book on BJ, this should definitely be it. Highly recommended. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title

4. Knock-Out Blackjack: The Easiest Card-Counting System Ever Devised
by Olaf Vancura, Ken Fuchs
If you have tried counting cards using other systems and have failed, then Knock-out Blackjack is the book for you. Not only is the system uncomplicated, but the author's layout a step by step progression of easily understandable techniques. The data supporting the K-O system is included in various chapters, yet you do not need to know or memorize the math. There is no dividing and they show you how to make a simple adjustment so you there are no negative number to work with. And it is easily adjustable to any number of decks.
When they say it is the easiest card counting system every devised, it is true. I have tried other systems and failed. But with K-O system the average person will have the advantage over the house for a change.
If you like to play BJ this book is a must.

5. Playing Blackjack As a Business
by Lawrence Revere
I've used this book for years as a reference before going anywhere I play Blackjack. Mr. Revere provided color coded, easily understood charts and tables for single and multiple deck games. He gives basic strategy for each as well as several simple to advanced counting strategies. His rules regarding bet size, betting and playing time are rules to survival at the tables. I may not be getting kicked out of casinos, but I leave with their money 4 out of 5 times and the losses are pocket change compared to the winnings. Mr. Revere has since died, but his knowledge of blackjack is as true today as it was over 20 years ago.
